The movement is opened and the calibre confirmed against the reference — finishing, engraving, the seal where the reference carries one. The case and movement numbers are read and checked against the papers, and against each other, and against the production period. An extract from the archives, where one exists, is part of the file and travels with the watch.

Dial printing is inspected under a loupe for font, alignment and depth. Any replacement part is disclosed on the listing, whether or not it is visible. An independent watchmaker confirms the piece before it is listed.

Every Patek Philippe on this site carries its reference, its year and exactly what accompanies it. Where a document does not exist, the listing says so.
